We are an independent bookstore in our beloved city of Hyderabad. We love reading, we love writing and we love Hyderabad. Off the Shelf is our humble attempt at bringing all three together in an experience that is beautiful and special. 

We love reading, whether it is a bestseller, an award winner or a self-published book that no one ever heard about. As long as the book is giving you a chance to switch your mind off to the outside world for just a few minutes, let ideas or worlds open up to you and experience an emotion or thought outside of yourself, it’s a great book. We hope to find you the right book that you will enjoy reading or maybe just admire it on our mantle. Whatever you do, putting a book in your hand is our mission.

We love writing, whether it is poetic verses or deep thoughts or random scribbles or artistic doodles. We want to provide you with the most beautiful, functional and inspiring instruments such as journals, stickers, paper clips and folders to make your journey more fun, whimsical and memorable. We curate products that we have fallen in love with and are thrilled to share the same with our customers. You will spot one of our founders around the store using the same products with the excuse of trying and testing.

We love Hyderabad! Both of us proudly call this city our hometown. We grew up waiting for that book fair in school, excited for the first day of school because we got to pick new pens and stickers, pre-ordered that Harry Potter book at the local bookstore, and made shopping for books and stationery a fun family outing. In the age of online shopping, we miss these experiences terribly and want to bring them back to our friends and family, our next generation and our dear Hyderabadis! We travelled the world and flew back to the nest, to contribute to this lovely city’s vibe, culture and community.
